NABL accreditated Food Analysis & Research Laboratory

       Two Days Training Programme on "Intellectual Property Rights, Geographical Indication and Organic Facilitation" at Centre of Food Technology

Centre of Food Technology, University of Allahabad, in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Council of Agricultural Research had organized a two days' workshop (10th-11th Aug 2016) on "Intellectual Property Rights, Geographical Indication and Organic Facilitation". The inaugural session was chaired by the Guest of Honour Hon'ble Justice Poonam Srivastava. The session was also graced by the presence of Dr. Bijendra Singh, Director IIVR, Varanasi, Prof. Geeta Watal, Chairperson IPR cell, University of Allahabad, Dr. Sujit Kumar, Scientific Officer, UPCAR, Lucknow and Prof. Neelam Yadav, Director, IPS, University of Allahabad. The programme was attended by 66 participants including faculty members, research associates, research scholars and students from various departments of University of Allahabad and SHIATS, Allahabad. The training programme was conducted by Dr. Pinki Saini, Organizing Secretary/ Assistant Professor, Centre of Food Technology, University of Allahabad.

The lead lectures were given by eminent experts like Dr. R Saha, Former Director, TIFAC, New Delhi; Prof. Abha Agnihotri, Amity University, Noida; Ms. Anushri Gupta, Intellectual Property Attorney, New Delhi; Dr. Shashi Rana, Joint Director, UP-CST, Lucknow; Prof H.B. Singh, Professor and Head, Dept. of MPP, BHU, Varanasi and Prof. Geetika Goel MNNIT, Allahabad. The sessions covered all aspecst such as IPR management, legal patent filing, trademarks, Industrial Design, copyright, patent practices, geographical indications and organic farming. It was rewarding to see that the training programme was highly beneficial to the participants giving them sufficient information and creating awareness among them. Scientists, Researchers and Participants had good discussions after each presentation which stimulated a lot of thought process. It was realized that better understanding of IPR principles is necessary for growth and economic development of the country.
